Does part-time work count for the Canadian Experience Class?
Last checked against IRCC: October 8, 2026
Short answer
Yes, if it meets the same rules as full-time work and the 1,560 total is reached within the 3 years before you apply.
How it adds up
IRCC's example is 15 hours a week for 24 months equals 1 year. You can combine as many part-time jobs as needed, but no more than 30 hours a week count. Each job must be paid, in Canada, authorized, TEER 0 to 3.
Watch out
- part-time work while a full-time student doesn't count even if authorized
- the 3-year window moves with your application date, so older hours drop out
- self-employment, volunteer and unpaid work don't count.
FAQ
- 20 + 20 hours at two jobs?
- Only 30 count that week.
- How long at part-time?
- At 15 hours a week about 24 months; the tracker projects your own date.
